Serviced office space is typically priced on a per workstation basis and the industry standard size is in the region of 75 square feet. The cost of a standard workstation encompasses floor space rental as well as key expenses such as building services, office administration, furnishings, heating/hot water, water charges, lighting, electricity, washroom and hygiene facilities, cleaning, security, insurance and maintenance, fire procedures and precautions.

Business centres also offer a full range of other chargeable services on a pay-per-use basis such as secretarial and stationary/postage, board/conference and meeting room hire. They also tend to be equipped with high levels of IT infrastructure compared to traditional leased offices. For example, most are equipped with the latest technology have wireless broadband networks or CAT 5 cabling and increasingly video conferencing facilities.
